Humbert Release Old/New Songs

May 11, 2018 News No Comments

Hialeah’s Humbert have been around for a long time. In 2006, they performed at the South By Southwest Conference/Festival in Austin,TX. They promoted their Saturday night showcase with a massive marketing plan that Boston Globe called that year’s “most ingenious guerilla marketing” tactic and got high praise from Wayne Coyne (Flaming Lips). We will get into the details of that some other time, but one of the [simple] things they did was produce a promotional-only EP called Floating Legion of Joy. They handed the CDs out for free with a flyer for their performance attached. The EP included some previously released songs and some that were not previously released. Among those was “Natahalli River” and “See When The World Begins To Ring”, which have worked their way into Humbert live sets over the years. Finally, those songs can be heard online outside of Austin,TX and just in time for their first appearance in West Palm Beach since that same year. It’s 2006 all over again! For Humbert, anyway. Must be that whole “Cuban time” thing you’ve heard about.

Catch Humbert live tonight Friday May 11 in West Palm Beach w/ Gold Dust Lounge, The Brand, Brady Newbill

Shark Valley Sisters Release Their Final Single/Video

May 11, 2018 News No Comments

In case you haven’t heard, South Florida’s Shark Valley Sisters are calling it quits. One of the best bands in this area over the past five years, which came from the ashes of some of the very best bands to ever come from Florida (Holy Terrors, Load) is going to cease to exist (supposedly) after they open for the Dead Boys on Wednesday July 11th at Churchill’s Pub in Miami. We don’t know exactly why they are disbanding other than the usual “moving on to the next adventure” thing. We are not sure if rumors are true that Will Trev is joining Interpol to reunite with former Holy Terrors drummer Sam Fogarino or if Rob Elba is permanently joining Humbert. Right now, drummer Fausto Figueredo does have another band called Beat Obsolete and Rob Elba also plays bass in Gold Dust Lounge.

SVS did leave us with a little gem. A singled called “Damocles” and a b-side called “Kemo”. And “Damocles” has a great video that was created by On Planet Weird (Rob’s daughter Cori). Turn this shit up, kick back and enjoy.

Enjoy Damocles/Kemo and more Shark Valley Sisters on their Bandcamp page here.
