Jason Bieler Friday Show At Coconut Creek Casino ** UPDATE – SHOW IS POSTPONED

February 15, 2018 News No Comments

“After a lot of thought we have decided to postpone tomorrows show out of respect for all those affected and also to have more time to get the logistics together to do a proper fundraiser for the victims in the future.” – Jason Bieler

Jason Bieler (Saigon Kick, Super TransAtlantic, Owl Stretching) is from Coral Springs, FL, a neighboring city to Parkland, where the deadly school shooting took place yesterday. Jason has many ties to the area and the show itself is taking place in the neighboring city of Coconut Creek, so a decision had to be made whether to go on with the show or not. As of today, Thursday Feb 15th, the show is still happening. Here are Jason’s thoughts in his own words:

“Completely horrified, but not surprised… kind of horribly numb. This is my hometown and family friends go to this school. Our government is full of spineless cowards and sadly this will just keep happening.”

“Regarding the show tomorrow night in Coconut Creek, I really feel like it is just too soon and so horribly sad that it makes doing a gig feel tremendously unimportant and in the grand scheme of things irrelevant. At the same time this was my hometown and if we can in some small way help create something positive and raise some money for victims, or at least provide a few minutes of escape for people I feel that it is probably the best thing to do.”

The show is at Nectar Lounge inside the Coconut Creek Casino @ 8pm. The show is Free.

I myself have ties to this community, having worked in Coral Springs for many years and have many friends that still live in this community, some of which have children that attend Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland. I will be out there tomorrow in support of Jason and everyone else. While my thoughts are certainly with the families and friends by those hurt in this tragedy, thoughts and prayers are not enough. Something needs to be done and done now.  I agree 100% with the words of Jared Moskowitz, a Democratic member of the Florida House of Representatives, representing the 97th District… “It’s the same story … The only thing that changes is the name of the shooter, the name of the victims and the location of the school,” says Rep. Moskowitz. “Doing nothing is consistent. The one thing we are when it comes to shootings is consistent — we will do nothing.” We need to put pressure on Senator Marco Rubio, who, has received over $3 million dollars from the NRA as well as an A+ grade from the NRA during the 2015-2016 campaign cycle. We need to put pressure on Donald Trump, who signed a bill in February 2017 that revoked Obama-era regulations that made it harder for people with mental illnesses to purchase a gun. This bullshit needs to stop. It doesn’t have to come down to banning all guns. But we clearly have problems with our gun laws. Your vote and your voice is more powerful than your thoughts and prayers and this IS the time to talk about it. – Tony Landa
