Record Store Day 2018: The South Florida Guide

April 20, 2018 News No Comments

Record Store Day 2018 is upon us once again. Vinyl record buyers of all kinds… from the junkies that will stand in line for hours and hours to get a mystery 7″ single to the casual buyer just trying to get some good deals on some used vinyl… we will all be out and about on Saturday April 21st. Even standing in line isn’t too bad on RSD, because you’re with mostly like-minded people. People that love music. So, for those of us in South Florida, here is what’s happening on Record Store Day 2018:

The big 5 stores – Sweat, Technique, Radio-Active, and 2 We Got The Beats locations will all have TONS of Record Store Day exclusive items. We can tell you that you will be able to find most of the items at these stores. Of course, RSD items are limited, so there may be 1 copy of The Police “Roxanne” 7″ at one of these stores or 1 copy of the Arcade Fire EP LP or the David Bowie debut album, so if you want one of them, you’re going to have to get out of bed (or just go straight from the bar the night before) and get in line. The official list of Record Store Day 2018 titles is available here.

Opens @ 11AM

Official participating store. So, they “should” have some RSD exclusives. Not sure how many. Not much more info. This store mostly sells used vinyl. Check it out if you haven’t yet.

These are some other independent record stores in the South Florida area that you may want to check out. They are not official “participating stores” according to the folks at Record Store Day, so they aren’t likely to have any exclusive RSD items, however, it’s still a good day to check them out. You never know… they may or may not have some Record Store Day sales going on. Give them some love on 4/21 or if not, try and visit them soon.

VP RECORDS
6022 SW 21ST ST, MIRAMAR  (map)

Not an official participating store, but VP Records is a great reggae label and also have a retail store here that specializes in reggae. The label has 3 RSD exclusive titles that will be available for sale at this store. If you want them, this will be a good spot to get them. These guys know reggae. I mean… they run a label, that was founded in 1979, based out of Queens. So, if you’re into reggae and haven’t been here, then you’re missing out.

For more info on VP’s RSD items, go here.

REGGAE LAND MUZIK
6134 MIRAMAR PARKWAY, MIRAMAR  (map)

Not an official participating store, but you should check them out if you’re into reggae. Not likely to carry any RSD exclusives.

VINYL ASYLUM & MEMORABILIA
2028 HOLLYWOOD BLVD, HOLLYWOOD  (map)

Not an official participating store. Mostly used vinyl. Don’t believe they carry any new releases. Not likely to carry any RSD exclusives. Also sell some music and pop culture memorabilia. Located in Downtown Hollywood.

TOP FIVE RECORDS
10 SOUTH J ST, LAKE WORTH  (map)

Not an official participating store. Mostly used vinyl. Don’t believe they carry any new releases. Not likely to carry any RSD exclusives. They sell some cool concert posters here. Owner is a nice guy. Cool spot in Lake Worth with Common Grounds coffee house next door, cool book store across the street, and some other cool spots in the downtown Lake Worth area.

ANALOGOPOLIS RECORDS, FILMS, GAMES & THINGS
829 DONALD ROSS ROAD, JUNO BEACH  (map)

Not an official participating store. Not likely to carry any RSD exclusives. Don’t believe they carry any new releases. Haven’t been here yet. Obviously, they sell much more than records. Looking forward to checking it out soon.

RUST AND WAX
1500-C ELIZABETH AVE, WEST PALM BEACH  (map)

Not an official participating store. Not likely to carry any RSD exclusives or. Don’t believe they carry any new releases. Haven’t been here yet. Rust and Wax is located inside Elizabeth Avenue Station, which is in the heart of the West Palm Beach Warehouse District and is an event space, workspace and curated retail shop. Sounds cool to me. Will have to check this whole place out soon.

SPACE CADET RECORDS
656 NW US-1, TEQUESTA  (map)

Not an official participating store. Not likely to carry any RSD exclusives. Don’t believe they carry any new releases. Haven’t been here yet. It’s located in the back of Island Time Trading (an estate & custom furnitire-home decor store).

KELSEY VINTAGE GOODS
748-B PARK AVE, LAKE PARK (map)

Not an official participating store. They only sell used records and they are not actually a record store. They sell collectibles, pop culture memorabilia, some classic pinball machines… and a decent enough selection of used records that you should check out if you’re in this little area, which also includes Confusion Records, The Kelsey Theatre, The Surf Museum, The Brewhouse Gallery, etc.

COMING SOON: THE ROASTED RECORD – A combo coffeehouse/record store in Stuart.
