South Florida Local Musicians Getting High… off Records

April 6, 2018 News No Comments

That Record Got Me High Podcast features track-by-track opinionated commentary and anecdotes by two South Florida rock ‘n’ roll field hands – Rob Elba & Barry Stock – about albums you know and (maybe) love.

You may have heard and seen Rob Elba perform live with Shark Valley Sisters, Gold Dust Lounge, Rat Opera or by himself with a guitar. Your parents may have heard or seen him perform with the Holy Terrors or The Clap. Your grandparents may have seen him perform with X-Conz. So, Rob has been getting together with Barry Stock, another local musician/photographer/DJ who is one of Mr Entertainment’s Pookiesmackers.

Rob:
“I’ve been listening to a lot of music podcasts lately and I often find myself yelling at the inevitably thirtysomething commentator, “Idiot, you don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about!!”

I cornered Barry  – with whom I’ve had several long-winded late night conversations about this-or-that classic record – about a month ago and insisted we could surely do a better job. Against his better judgement he said yes and our Podcast was born.

We’ve got 3 episodes in the can already, and we’ll be doing a record a week until we can’t stand the sound of each other’s voices anymore. So far we’re having fun.”

The first 3 episodes cover Radiohead’s “OK Computer”, Sonic Youth’s “Daydream Nation” and David Bowie’s “Hunky Dory”.

You can listen on Soundcloud or iTunes.
